(Title) After investigating the complaint lodged by the Association of Cardio-Heavy pnefmonopathon and Transplant Association and Friends of Heart Transplantation “Continue” on the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center, the Ombudsman proceeded to a finding which has sent Secretary of Health and Welfare.

Especially for this case, the Ombudsman asked the Minister for Health and Social Solidarity M. Xenogiannakopoulou to investigate circumstances that led to the failure of the transplant unit Onassis and ensure the uninterrupted operation of the unit at all levels and during holiday periods ».

Also, the Ombudsman, in response to the complaint, proposed :
1. To specialize the jurisdiction of the EOM to oversee the operation of the Transplant Unit in accordance with N.2737/1999. In this context, to ensure the required written justification from the Transplant Units of rejecting grafts available for making and monitoring the observance.
2. To formalize and fully activated by a coordinating and facilitator of the Minister of Health and Welfare’s role both EOM in strict compliance with the specified obligations.
3. To strengthen the institutional contact the Ministry of Health-EOM and activate the control mechanisms of the ministry to ensure the effective investigation of problems arising in the functioning of the Transplant Unit.
