(Title) About 50 Afghan students became ill and were taken to hospital after a suspected gas attack at their school in the southwest of the country, official sources pointed out, noting the youngest case of a long series of such incidents recent months.
The teenage girls felt sick and some even swooned after inhaling gas in a school Gazni, just two hours from the capital Kabul, said local police officer.
« This is again the same type of attack, designed to discourage girls attending schools, “said Navroz Ali Machmountzanta.
« It’s very annoying. We have not yet identified what the substance, or who is behind the attack, “he added.
Doctor from the local hospital said most of the girls received medical care and were discharged, while others remain hospital. As noted, however, no girl was in danger of dying.
Today’s episode was a recurrence of similar events in other girls’ schools with unknown gases, as emphasized by the authorities it is toxic.
The Taliban, which in during the reign of the period 1996-2001 had banned education for women, have condemned such attacks and denied any responsibility for such attacks.
