Fernando Varella’s son set Portugal’s winning goal against the Youth National but did not celebrate it

Gustavo, the son of PAOK’s old defender Fernando Varella, gave Portugal the victory against Greece, but did not celebrate the goal he scored showing respect for the country that spent a significant time in his life. Gustavo Varella formed the final 2-1 for Portugal against the National Youth, scoring in 89′ of the match that took place in the “Estadio Municipal de Aveiro” (an opening at the Elite Round of Euro U-19). The son of PAOK’s former defender gave the victory to the Ibers, but did not celebrate, showing his respect to Greece. His father, Fernando Varela, was acquired by PAOK in 2016 and was a key member of the “Double Head of the North”, in the team’s historic first double.
