The data relate to the year 2015, and -more specifically – the investigation records that 19.9% of the citizens living in the country is in danger of be found below the poverty line, 11.7% live in families with unstable occupational situation or real problem of unemployment, and that 11.5% are members of families with severe shortages in basic goods. The final data resulted from the processing of all previous categories.
The Statistical Institute Istat adds that the investigation shows that the targets that Europe has set itself for the fight against poverty is still very remote. Impressive are the figures relating to the regions of Southern Italy: 46,4% of the residents there are at risk of poverty and social exclusion. In central Italy the corresponding percentage is 24% and in the northern regions of the country does not exceed 17.4%.
