EUR 135 million programme to support the processing of agricultural products

The pre-publication for the 1st Call for applications at 135m euros for processing support announced today (19.3.2024) the Ministry of Rural Development. According to the Ministry’s announcement the aim of the programme is to meet Greece’s needs in processed agricultural products and also to further develop possibilities for penetration into international markets. In particular, the communication states: The Minister for Rural Development and Food, Lefteris Avgenakis & the Deputy Minister responsible, Dionysis Stamenitis in collaboration with the Secretary General for Union Resources and Infrastructure, Dimitris Papagiannidis, announce the suspension of the Pre-publication of the 1st Invitation to submit applications for support for accession to the intervention “P3-73-2. 3 – Support for investments in the processing/marketing and/or development of agricultural products” of the Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan (CAP) of Greece 2023– 2027, amounting to EUR 135 million. Purpose of intervention ‘P3-73-2. 3 – Support for investments in the processing/marketing and/or development of agricultural products’ is to increase the added value of products, with the aim of meeting the needs of the country in processed quality products and increasing the possibilities for penetration into international markets, through the exploitation of raw materials of primary production, the integration of innovation, the development of methods and procedures for environmental protection that reduce the phenomenon of climate change. It is crucial to support investment both maintaining and creating jobs, contributing to social stability and economic development at both local and national level and to protecting human health. In this context support shall be granted to agricultural processing undertakings where the result of their processing is also agricultural, to standardisation undertakings for agricultural products labelled (National and Union Standards) and to undertakings participating in schemes of symbolic agriculture. Minister for Rural Development and Food Lefteris Avgenakis said: “Our concern is the adaptation of agri-food products to the new production conditions to make use of any technological potential, but adapted to modern environmental requirements. We give added value to Greek products in order to be more attractive to international markets and in this effort we are strengthened by the unique quality of Greek products. By strengthening the primary sector, we create jobs that give life to the Greek region. And to achieve this, we use every national and European resource.” The intervention concerns applications for support with a budget requested from 400.001, 00 euros to 5,000. EUR 000,00, is co-financed by the European Union (European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development – E.G.T.A.) and by the Greek State (Public Investment Programme – P.A.) and implemented throughout the country. The total amount provided for the financing of the Intervention is 135,000. EUR 000,00, Pre-publication shall include information on the publication of the Intervention, eligibility and selection criteria, eligible and ineligible expenditure, support intensity and the procedure for integrating operations into the Intervention.
