EOPY: The shipment of high-cost drugs to the home began – the conditions and procedure

The new High Costs mission service (FYK) at home, according to its announcement . It is now available for around 2,000 patients beneficiaries of EOPY, the new mission service “High Cost Farmers at Home” for medicines available from the Agency’s pharmacies. These medicines are specifically labelled in the Electronic Prescription System and currently concern patients with cystic fibrosis, thalaemia, pulmonary hypertension, motor neurone disease and sickle cell anaemia. Speaking at iatropedia.gr , the CEO of the EEAY, Theano Carpodine points out that the delivery of drugs at home was a commitment of the government implemented: “The new service will finally help the patients’ even faster and timely access to their treatments, without tails, waiting and without hassle. A commitment was made by the Prime Minister, but also by the Minister of Health, Adoni Georgiades. The pilot program runs for about 2,000 patients, aiming at the end of the year, this is the possibility for all patients who are served by the OOPY Pharmacy, if they so wish,” the Administrator points out. Please note that the new service makes use of the same contract as the courier companies used to distribute antiviral medicines against COVID-19 disease and are completely free for patients. Sending drugs home: The conditions For the dispatch of medicinal products at home, according to the latest announcement of the EOPY, the care beneficiary wishing to make use of the service must: * is over 18 years old, * has activated the intangible prescription, * receives some of the medicines included in the relevant Ministerial Decision (JEK B 823/2024), and a hospital certificate has been issued electronically in the cases provided for. EEAY: Simple procedure in 3 steps The Agency describes the step-by-step process: The physician, when issuing a medical prescription in its Electronic Prescription System (EDIKA), shall be informed of the medicinal products that meet the criteria for home delivery and if the patient declares that he wishes to receive the medicinal products at home, the physician shall indicate in the EDIKA Electronic Prescription System the relevant field ‘home delivery’. The beneficiary then enters the special section on the site of the EOPY for the shipment of medicinal products at home (https://fyk.eopyy.gov.gr/) by providing the necessary consents and information for the shipment, in compliance with the provisions on the protection of personal data. After the finalisation of the request by the beneficiary, through the special section on the site of the E.O.P.Y., for the dispatch of the medicinal products of this particular recipe at home, the recipe will be bound and can now only be carried out through the relevant application. In case of a repeated prescription being issued, the finalisation process will be repeated every month by the patient. If the prescription cannot be performed, the patient shall be informed by e-mail on a summary basis. Delivery Time Delivery time counts from the execution of the recipe and is from 2 to 5 working days. It is always proportional to the final destination taking into account exceptional circumstances (time conditions, routes, holidays, strikes, inaccessible areas, etc.). Monitoring Recipe The care beneficiary may track the shipment online. The receipt is by means of a confirmation code sent electronically to him by the courier company.
