A few days before your return to the theatrical stage with the play “Tartuffe, or, The Cheats”, how do you feel?
“This is the repetition of a spring Ταρτούφου, which will be presented at the theater of Jenny Karezi. I feel honored that our world has accepted, has embraced what we present. All of this is the result of a hard work and I’m happy that it will be rewarded”.
Artistic “meet”, once again, with your wife, Athena, Maximus. How easy is the professional “co-existence” for a couple?
“I think that this question would not be, ever, in a pair of doctors, lawyers…. When two actors are a match, they can work together. The personal part is not fit to work”.
The messages of the project are timely in Greece of 2016;
“Our goal is not to καιροσκοπήσουμε, bringing a classic work. We use a tool, which, in this case it’s called “Tartuffe”. Some of the spectators, certainly, will remind you of something, you will definitely connect it with something from what is happening in our country. Besides, the work speaks of the power and how she’s hiding behind the church, the religion”.
Your relationship with religion, what is it?
“When you define what is a religion, I would define our relationship with her. All of this is related to the worldview of each, with the fear of death, with the vigilantes, and those who believe that they are a reward for good deeds. In addition, you will have to give answer to the question: Believe or Worship it”?
You referred to the fear of death. Worry about the time it passes by?
“The human mind contains everything, we all have these thoughts. It all depends on the period of your life, what phase to find your thoughts. The big question is if you can live your life. Some answer no, and they kill themselves, some people hide behind false truths and be miserable”.
Returning to on business plans, prepare something for the small screen?
“No, and that’s a conscious choice. I want to be devoted to the theatre”.
Track, however, tv?
“I’ll always watch some of the episodes of the series, but I haven’t seen anything that will get my attention. I think that this is all a result of the crisis, does not allow for remarkable productions”.
Your opinion on the subject of tv licences, what is it?
“It’s a way to grumble to the government. I find it a hypocrisy in this whole thing from both sides. For 25 years now, to the part of the media, it was all in the air, people worked and many times they don’t get paid, that was vulgar. Why take from us ENFIA and don’t get taxes from the channels? All the MEDIA controlled the power. And she, in turn, had to react”.
The comparison made between the closing of ERT and of the upcoming black in private channels, you agree with that?
“There’s no connection. The closure of ERT was a fascist decision of the Samaras government. Nobody had the guts to take on the restructuring and so they decided to “kill”. In this sense, it is fascist. In the case of private channels, there was a contest, the state has secured several million euros, and in this I salute them”.
