Dynamic initiatives for the hospitality of refugees from the Municipality of Neapolis – Sykies

Dynamically advances the municipality of Neapolis-Sykeon in the implementation…
the programme for the housing of refugees through rental apartments. Today was inspection of the first compartment from those declared in the framework of the program “REACT”, which is in progress, while similar visits will be made and the next time.
The area visited today for an autopsy the members of the Committee of Eligibility, which is composed of the vice-mayor Stelios Γκατζές, alderman Michael Grandfather, and the engineer Sakis Tsakiris, in order to examine the apartment and to submit then report them to promote the completion of the process.
“The local society responding to the call that we are making, in order to ensure humane living conditions to the refugees. With this action, which is part of a broader design assistance and substantial assistance for the refugees, we are fighting prejudice, fear, racism”, stresses the responsible vice-mayor Stelios Γκατζές, who commented in a positive mood, and attitude of the owner towards the refugees. As pointed out, in parallel, promoted the process of five foster homes that will accommodate a total of 15 refugees.
The help and solidarity of the municipality of Neapoli-Sykies, however, is not limited only to refugees, but embraces and the people who found themselves in a difficult position because of the conditions of the economic crisis. So, this period is in progress and the program housing and reintegration into society of homeless people, which are rented already 20 houses that can accommodate 25 people, while six people have already found a job.
Goal
It is recalled that the aim of the program “REACT” is the rent 20 apartments and the cover, through these, 120 places for refugees until 31 December 2016 and with a possible extension of one year.
The project, which relates to asylum seekers and to the beneficiaries of the resettlement programme in countries of the eu.E., is implemented in cooperation of the UN High Commissioner for refugees, headed by the municipality of Thessaloniki and with partners in the municipalities of Neapoli-Sykies and Kalamaria, Central Macedonia Region, the YMCA, the NGOS PRAKSIS, ARSIS-Social Support of Youth, the Greek Council for Refugees and the Hellenic league for Human rights.
