Dead and missing many Libyan immigrants – Saved 25 Ocean Viking

The SOS Meditarenee humanitarian organization’s patient ship rescued today (13.03.2024) off Libya, 25 who were for about a week on an inflatable vessel that sailed ungovernable. “The survivors said many immigrants died and are currently considered missing,” noted Ocean Viking’s organization. “A first aid plan for wreckers in vulnerable psychological and physical condition was implemented,” the organization continued. Two of them had lost consciousness, their condition was considered critical and their immediate transfer to land was requested. SOS Mediterranee has rescued more than 39,000 people in the Mediterranean since 2016. In 2023 3,105 immigrants died or were missing after trying to sail the Mediterranean to reach Europe, according to data from the International Immigration Organisation, which is a UN agency. Since January this year 278 people have been killed or missing.
