Cyprus: No progress from Lut contacts – Tatar insists on two-state solution

Ms. Luth has so far not noted the existence of common ground

The contacts of the special envoy of the UN Secretary General for the Cypriot Jane Hall Lut, in Nicosia, ended without any substantial result.

Ms. Lut met with President Anastasiadis and then with Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar.

Ms. Luth has so far not noted the existence of common ground, in order to suggest to the UN Secretary General the convening of a new 5 + 1 conference on the Cyprus issue.

The Turkish and Turkish Cypriot sides insist on a two-state solution, which is outside the parameters set by the UN.
