Coronavirus: New vaccine comes in autumn

In autumn 2024 the new, updated for him, at about the same time as the flu vaccine, announced the head of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Mandy Cohen. As she reported in an interview with Bloomberg agency, researchers are currently working on choosing the coronavirus strain in which the new version of the vaccine will target and will probably wait until May to arrive definitively. As Covid’s mortality and disease rates decline rapidly, the objective, as he said, remains to protect vulnerable citizens. CDC is also unlikely, as he said, to withdraw its recommendations for vaccines against Covid in children, although the virus generally affects children less than in the past. Small children, along with the elderly, are still a large proportion of those treated for the disease, the CDC head stressed. “We want to make sure that we still protect our children from Covid and the flu,” she said in her interview. As concerns about the virus recede, the CDC issued on Friday new instructions, saying that people with Covid whose symptoms improve and are inexhaustible for 24 hours without drugs can return to work, school or other public spaces. The guidance of the CDC removes the previous recommendation for five days of isolation after a positive test. The CDC also recommended last week that people aged 65 and over take a second dose of the most recent version of the anti-Covid vaccine, released last fall. By Janna Soulaki/iatropedia.gr
