(Title) Members of the Council of Europe have today called on Israel to fully lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip.

The PACE which includes members from the 47 member states of the Council of Europe, meets four times a year to discuss topical issues and give advice on policy in the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
Members also criticized the Israeli assault the flotilla with humanitarian aid directed to Gaza as a breach of international law and described as “disproportionate response”. Also called on Israel to halt new settlements in the occupied territories of East Jerusalem.
The recent relaxation of the measures closure of Gaza by Israel was characterized by the Parliamentary Assembly as the “first step” but, as pointed out by the Social Democrat Italian MP Piero scrub is “essential” to completely remove the exclusion in order to revive the dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians.
