mitigating circumstances, considered the three-member criminal court of Chios the 32χρονο Syros.
The perpetrator of the abuse 3-year-old son were not recognised extenuating circumstances as, according to the Prosecutor the violence has been directed in a way that could endanger the life of the child.
“Brought conscious force in weight of the small, with purpose, through this violence, to blackmail the mother of the minor to come from Turkey to Chios. We are dealing with a case where it is used a family member to blackmail a member of her family. I suggest that the guilt for the two acts is unprecedented for the Greek standards,” said the Prosecutor, adding: “The remorse is not real, the more he cares about than what caused the child”.
The trial
The 32-year-old crossed the threshold of the Court of first instance of Chios a few minutes before 11:00 in the morning. The defendant appeared before the 3μελους Crown Chios without a lawyer since no member of the Bar Association decided not to take the case. The Court, acting ex officio, appointed as a lawyer of the accused, the president of the Bar Association Margarita’s Ζαννάρα, in order to continue the trial of the case.
Following the appointment of mr Ζαννάρα the president of the Court of justice Maria Tombazis interrupted the trial in order for the defendant to contact the public defender.
The hearing continued a few minutes later with the Officer’s testimony who said that 32-year-old was spotted in the camp of Souda, after the complaint of the Smile of the Child.
As testified by the police Officer, the 32-year-old wanted to make his wife to take pity on him and came to Greece, after abandoning him and remained in Turkey. The Court addressed questions about the video that depicts the 32χρονο abusing a minor in the shower, with the Police officer to testify that he was 11 hits of which the child could have been seriously hurt.
Finally, the Court imposed five years ‘ imprisonment without parole in the 32χρονο. The original sentence was 4 years for domestic violence and 2 years for domestic bodily injury against a minor, but the final penalty was set at 5 years.
The president even wished happy holidays to the 32χρονο, but… within the prison where he was transferred.
