The Prosecution of E-Crime, in the context of preventive action and in view of the upcoming festive period, it draws the attention of the citizens – internet users by their online transactions and in particular on payments product, via an electronic banking (e-banking) and credit-debit card.
In particular, the internet and, in particular, on various social media, like Facebook, are advertised branded items, especially clothing-footwear, low prices, from websites of questionable reliability, which after placing order and completing the payment interrupt the operation, and never send the products to the buyers.
Also, the phenomenon of the existence of web pages similar to the official banking institutions, which encourage visitors to enter their personal data such as debit-credit card, user name, and password services electronic banking (e-banking).
To avoid deception of the public with the above-mentioned modes, the Address Electronic Crime, recommends that internet users who wish to perform electronic transactions, the following:
In cases of unknown electronics shop, before the entry order and the completion of the transaction, to complete the online surveys of the stores, in order to find any background customer feedback (positive or negative reviews and reviews from other internet users.
Preferred payment is through a portal of electronic payment, as long as there is available, so as not to enter directly the data of debit – credit card.
To carefully read the terms and conditions of use of web pages as well as the policy to return products or money and to examine whether there is a right of withdrawal.
To never insert credit card details or online banking web pages, which are routed through hyperlinks (hyperlinks) contained in e-mail messages.
To show great attention to offers that appear in the junk e-mail.
Make sure that you use secure websites when entering personal or financial information, or make purchases from online stores.
Secure the pages with a web address that begins with https instead of http.
