Back in the “Ben-Hur”

In the long list of the most unneeded remake film, you can now… add the “Ben-Hur”.
The saga of the 11 Oscar, who directed the 1959 William Wyler stand still in time, as evidenced by the established views of each year during holy Week.
And Charlton Easton’s doing just fine pulling an oar as a slave of the galley, or running in the chariot race in the Circus Maximus.
Jack Houston who will get into the sandals of Judah Ben-Hur, is unknown to the general public but beloved friends of the tv series “Boardwalk Empire”, while stealing the show in the movie “Pride, prejudice and zombies”.
The hard work has been the help of a Russian director Timur Μπεκμαμπέτοφ (“The guardians of the night”, “Wanted”) and digital visual effects, making eye in the first trailer of the film.
The truth is, and the film of 1959 was in turn a remake of a βωβής of 1925. While the new “Ben-Hur” is not marketed as a remake of the one with Charlton Heston, but as a new transposition of the homonymous novel (1880) by Lew Wallace.
A distinction that matters, as the book is copyright free, while the movie is not.
