Approval of funding of the Open the Day Center Homeless and Υπνωτηρίου Homeless of the municipality of Thessaloniki

The approval of funding of € 1 million. euro for the operation of the Open the Day Center for the Homeless and the Υπνωτηρίου Homeless of the… Municipality of Thessaloniki is the Region of Central Macedonia, after the integration of the relevant act to the new NSRF (PA 2014 – 2020), signed by the Governor of Central Macedonia Apostolos Tzitzikostas.
The act of “Structures of Homeless people Municipality of Thessaloniki” is part of the Priority Axis “Promoting social inclusion and combating poverty ESF” of the Operational Programme “Central Macedonia” and is co-financed by the European Social Fund. It concerns the operation of the Open the Day Center for the Homeless and the Υπνωτηρίου Homeless of the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the amount of funding reaches the amount of 1.101.600 ec. euro.
The objective of the act “Structures the Homeless” is the provision of basic goods and support services as well as improving the quality of life of the citizens who are accommodated in the Open Day Center for the Homeless and the Dormitory for the Homeless of the Municipality of Thessaloniki. These two structures cover the housing needs of the most vulnerable citizens by providing them, in conjunction with the services of the Department of Social Policy of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, comprehensive support. Offer the homeless immediate hospitality as well as psychosocial support services, primary health care, personal care and hygiene. They also offer a variety of interface capabilities with services, housing, food, psychological support, legal assistance, counselling, health, welfare and social reintegration.
“The Region of Central Macedonia sets up in practice as a priority the protection of the most vulnerable social groups and in this direction we make use of available european resources by enhancing activities in support of our fellow human beings, who are deprived of even the basic goods of food and housing. With a further integration act to the new NSRF, ensuring the continued operation of structures for hospitality and support of the homeless of the Municipality of Thessaloniki. Our duty is to ensure the right to decent living to every citizen who is in need,” said the Governor of Central Macedonia Apostolos Tzitzikostas.
