Apples and strawberries “kick” the weight of age

The consumption of plenty of fruits and vegetables after 40 can… protects against the accumulation of excess weight due to age, according to a new study.
However, it matters what kinds you eat, the silhouette of us as it seems of benefit to those containing particular kinds of flavonoids.
Flavonoids are natural nutrients, which contain in various concentrations in most plants and, therefore, of vegetable origin food. Many experts believe that they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which are attributed many of the beneficial effects of fruits and vegetables.
The new study, carried out with the analysis of body weight and nutrition 124.086 men and women, showed that weight gain prevent mainly three types of flavonoids: anthocyanins, flavonols and φλαβονοειδικά derivatives such as tannins.
Anthocyanins are the phytochemicals that impart a characteristic red, blue or purple color in fruits and vegetables, such as blueberries, black and red raspberries, blueberries, black and red currants, strawberries, red grapes, red cabbage etc.
In the present study, the anthocyanins that consumed the volunteers came mainly from blueberries and strawberries.
Respectively, the other flavonoids found in abundance in fruits and vegetables such as onion, broccoli, apples, cherries, berries and tea, but in this study came mainly from tea and apples.
As explained by the researchers in the “British Medical journal” (BMJ), conducted their study in three groups of volunteers who are involved for decades with an equal number of research programs of the united states.
The scientists watched their volunteers for 24 years, and every four years, asking them to complete detailed questionnaires diet and every two years thereafter to report how much was the body weight.
At the start of the monitoring period, the average age of the volunteers ranged from 36.3 to 48,5 years, depending on the research project in which they participate.
The same research team had published last September, another study which had shown which fruits and vegetables have us get fat and what our slimmer.
