Appeal for financial assistance from the church of Agios Nikolaos Nafplion to repair the damage

parts of the roof outside, and the fall section of painting from the inside , with the result that to remain closed the temple until the completion of the restoration work. In the morning of the Σάββατου 6 August 2016, part of the roof of the church collapsed, filling the haul road next to the temple. Fortunately at that time there wasn’t a living world as the road is busy because of the stores dining and entertainment located near the temple. The roads around the temple have been blocked for the movement of pedestrians as well as sections of the roof is ready to fall again, while the consistory of the church posted a memo at the entrance of the temple, who informs the world that the church will remain closed until the completion of the work.
The church of St. Nicholas, located in the port of Nafplio, in one of the most beautiful spots of the city. The church suffered new damage after yesterday’s storm that hit the area. Temporarily the temple by the Archaeological service of Nafplio as well as the police directorate of Argolida has been blocked from all sides so that there is some kind of accident. The temple have been placed on all of the sides ικτριώματα support and retaining with the direct aim of securing the support of the building of a new collapse. The text of the Question is as follows:
“In accordance with relevant document of the Ecclesiastical Council of the Church of Agios Nikolaos Nafplion, recently created and new lines on the south side of the roof with partial cracking and destruction of religious paintings while collapsed sofades in the north external side of the roof of the building. The losses were put at risk so the temple – has been declared a historical monument, dating from the period of the second Venetian rule (1712) – as well as their church services, and transit.
Due to the time consuming procedures of the services involved with the restoration of the damage to the Temple ,the consistory of the church has entrusted all of the financial burden of work not to fall the temple . The finances of the church, however, is not sufficient for the whole restoration and that seek the financial support of the faithful from the region of Argolis and the wider area of Greece , even by expats from all over the world who want to help financially so that the historic church of St. Nicholas to open the gates .

The church of Agios Nikolaos Nafplion, on the basis of the inscription of the entrance, was moved to 1713 from the inner city to the beach by order of the Venetian commander of the Fleet, Augustine a succession of crusader states and was dedicated to Agios Nikolaos, patron saint of sailors. O present church is newer and was built in the 1830s, while it was inaugurated in 1836. Architecturally, it belongs to the type of τετράπλευρης παραλληλόγραμμης basilica, with a flat roof, a type which is followed in the Italian churches. Inside the temple, the visitor can admire the wood-carved iconostasis and the pulpit, the throne of the despot, and the three chandeliers from Odessa. The iconostasis, decorated with gilded images of 1848-1849, the works of John Δημάδη, painter of the times of National Rebirth.
The façade and the bell towers are later additions.
