Alarm for an outbreak of hepatitis in a refugee in Eidomeni

A case of hepatitis was detected in the camp of the Ειδομένης, where… days ago humanitarian organisations, NGOS and volunteers warn of the appalling conditions of hygiene which prevail. In the vast mire that has been created by the tents of the refugees and migrants is estimated to live approximately 14,000 people, with a complete absence of any care.
This is a case of hepatitis A and patient is a nine-year-old child, who has already transferred to the Ippokratio in Thessaloniki.
The National Center for Health, CERECO has not been informed about the incident, while the CDC looks for where exactly the camp was alive, the child, in order to consider whether need to be vaccinated, those who were close to him.
In accordance with the National Program of Vaccination that is valid in our country, the vaccine for Hepatitis A should be done in children who are at the age of one year.
The luck has abandoned them, the refugees, the government
The photo of the newborn baby of refugees in Eidomeni made headlines and shocked consciences around the globe. An infant, just a few days, struggling to keep life under the most difficult conditions imaginable for a european citizen.
A few inches above the mud, a woman holds it tight, while a man pouring water from a bottle, out in the cold, one of the few mornings that ξημέρωσαν with sun and no rain in the camp. The baby wasn’t born on stage, as confirmed by the Red Cross, but had to be moved there, in the makeshift camp, which for the past almost 15 days hosts more than 10,000 people – many estimate that currently there are about 14,000. The power of the image is traveling and with the traveling, the feeling, the conviction that life does not stop behind the fences set by european states in front of these people, or under the appalling conditions that the Greek state has not taken care to eliminate for them…

At the same time, the camp, despite the “persuasion” that has mobilized the government in the last 24 hours is not reduced despite a minimum of: As admitted by the person in charge of the Coordination of Government Dimitris Vitsa, yesterday they left the scenes in a center of hospitality in the North of Greece, just 400 people from approximately 14,000 thousands who are trying to survive there.
Things to Eidomeni, in view of the worsening of weather conditions in the coming hours, is expected to get worse even more. In the scenes of NGOS, which is designed to protect them from the weather, hosted about 3 000. The rest of us living in the already wet scenes, they are trying to make grooves in the mud to protect themselves in any way they can…

Emotion and anger by the picture of the newborn
If the officials were touched or even been affected by the photo and her power remains unknown, however, the ordinary citizens, who have shown all the time their unconditional support to the refugees, not only morally, but also with any material support they can, they reacted by expressing both their sorrow and their anger about what is happening in Greece and Europe in the 21st century.
“Baby born today in Eidomeni. Fighting my soul. To you demand. To claim,” writes a user on Twitter. For “miracle of life” and “symbol of hope” because of other posts, stressing that life persists, in spite of the difficulties and obstacles.
“This is not humanity nor dignity,” writes one user, while another wonders “Tassia, that lie now?”. “A woman gave birth in Eidomeni through the mud and the cold and the baby wash with the muddy water. Write you for the carnival of Patras,” comments another user.
