Aivaliotis (Ministry of Energy): ‘The current returns of RES projects do not ensure futures’

Yesterday (28.3.2024) the producers’ expectations for possible compensation for the energy needed to ensure the stability of the electrical system by the Secretary-General of Energy Aristotle Aivaliotis. Energy cuts from RES on a large scale will mainly concern the period 2027-2028, as the secretary general said in a speech at the Power & Gas Forum conference. “We should find a fair, efficient and economic way to manage them. It will disturb investors, since the performances of the projects will fall, but they will have to understand that the end of the major returns has come,” Mr. Aivaliotis noted. In a more colorful style he added: “As they say in the case of mutual funds, current returns do not ensure futures”.
