Activities for the completion of 200 years of the Greek Revolution

On the occasion of the celebration of the national anniversary of 25 March, the… ΥΠΠΕΘ launches series of research and educational activities, which will commence this year and will escalate by the year 2021, the year of completion of 200 years of the Greek Revolution.
In today’s difficult times, the purpose of these activities is to cause a substantial reflection on the past, present, and future of the Greek society on the basis of starting in 1821, which constitutes the founding act of the Greek nation-state.
These activities aim to:
· the mobilization of the scientific potential of the country for an in-depth systematic study of the fundamental chapter of Greek history, which will enrich and renew their knowledge of the Greek Revolution,
· the cooperation of national and local institutions for the diffusion of scientific knowledge in schools and in the public space,
· in view of the Revolution of 1821 not only as a national but as a european and global event.
The implementation of the project is entrusted to an organizational scheme of two committees, an academic commission and an executive committee, consisting of scientists of recognised standing, who, during the course of their career have dealt with research issues relating to the Revolution of 1821.
