AADE: 380,000 emails for connecting POS with cash

Her sent over 380,000 informative emails to which they have a cash register and upgraded their POS. These messages call on businesses to contact the installation technician immediately and connect POS with cash. It is recalled that in order for this major project of interconnection to be completed without technical problems, an extension of 1 month was granted, i.e. until 31 March 2024. Within this time, debtors should contact authorized cash machine installers in order to complete the process. It is noted that this extension may be extended for an additional month, i.e. until 30 April 2024: a) for those companies that have failed to find an available appointment within March, but have a scheduled appointment with a technical installation within April. The appointments should be stated on a special platform to be launched by the AADE on the second 15th of March. (b) for enterprises that will declare in the POS Registry that they are going to replace their cash system with some of the new available solutions all in one that does not require additional interconnection actions. Already, two electronic billing providers have been approved with such solutions and very soon much more is expected. Finally, it is stressed that it was decided not to grant a longer extension for 3 reasons: Firstly, because it has been found in many cases that the first period of long extensions goes untapped with slowing down. Secondly, because almost all of the base work (upgrades etc.) has now been completed and that at the pace already achieved in recent days the project will be completed within the timetables. Thirdly, because the interconnection of POS with cash machines is integrated into the Recovery Fund, as a landmark project, which means that any delay in the completion of the project can lead to a partial interruption of the country’s funding from Brussels. Deputy Minister for National Economy and Finance Harry Theocharis said: “I believe that it has now become absolutely clear that there will be no further extension for the interconnection of cash machines with POS. We have exhausted all the flexibility margins – besides, already the last extension given by the Ministry of National Economy and Finance was marginal. I stress once again that, after the end of April, no excuse will be established and accepted. Even from a technical point of view, existing options offer immediate solutions. I mean that there are “2 in 1” machines on the market, namely cash and POS on the same device, and suppliers are sufficient to meet the needs of the Greek market. I recommend that every professional rush immediately to make an appointment to upgrade his charging system in his business. The cash-POS interface is the law of the state and will apply, however. So not one day should go to waste in this attempt to modernise and consolidate tax justice.”
