A step before the International Mathematical Olympiad 17-year-old from the eiffel Tower

A step before the International Mathematical Olympiad is the… student in the second class of 4ουΓυμνασίου Tower, Dionysis Adamopoulos, who by participating in the 33rd National Mathematical Olympiad “Archimedes” was able to get the “ticket”, along with 26 more students from all over Greece for its participation in the “Qualifying Competition”. From this contest, will be selected for the National Teams that will participate in the Βαλκανιάδες and in the International Mathematical Olympiad.
The 33rd National Mathematical Olympiad “Archimedes” was carried out last Saturday the 27th of February in the building of the New chemical Laboratory, in Athens, greece. There, students from all over Greece, from the eighth Grade until the third Grade, competed (in two different categories, Junior high and high School) claiming one of the 27 positions of the final phase of the Mathematical Competition organized by the Hellenic Mathematic Company. “Knowing that it’s a small number of children who will go through to the final phase, and because the subjects were single for high School students, I thought that most would come from the C class and that I don’t have a lot of chances,” comments Dionysis, speaking in the newpaper. “Patrice” for the unique experience and distinguish it.
With A Bronze Medal
The sense that, in the course of the 76th National Contest stops in the “Archimedes”, was reinforced when he got his hands on the exercises and the lapse of time had solved three of the four. “It was a little difficult, but I got really nervous. I started to solve from the ones that were easier and I continued with the difficult. I solved 3 of the 4, because I didn’t have more time at my disposal, and so, they thought you wouldn’t come”, he explains. A phone call late in the evening but, by a representative of the Greek Mathematical Company, brought a smile to his lips. “They informed me that I have to take the Bronze Medal and I was very pleased, as and when the award ceremony, on Sunday morning, in the space of the University. I felt that they have rewarded my labours, because all the previous time I was preparing to participate in the contest,” says Dennis, noting that, regardless of the follow-up, even if you don’t pass to the next stage, it is satisfied for the point at which he has arrived.
As for the profit, the Greek speaks of a special and useful experience, that adds to knowledge and hope for even better performance, the next Mathematical Competitions. I failed finally to thank the directorate and the teachers of the school, and especially the Mathematician Elias Lampakis for your help and preparation, as well as their parents, for the support.
Great distinction for our school…
“It is a great pleasure, honour and pride for me as Director and professor of Dionysis from A class, but also for the Teachers’ Association, the great distinction of our students,” says the Director of the 4th high School of Pyrgos, Maria Μπαντούντα, who wished him to have success and discrimination in his life and make his dreams come true. This success definitely belongs to Dionysis, but one can’t overlook the efforts of the teaching staff of the school, in order to maintain a high level of provision of knowledge and the ethos of the students. Result of this effort, and the success of Dionysis, whom mrs. Μπαντούνα called it a “shining example” for the students of the school, all of which, when informed of the award, applauded warmly and wished a good success as a result of the competition.
Good luck
This distinction of Dionysis, the student of the 4th high School of Pyrgos, proves that the children of the province do not have to envy nothing, and not inferior in any way, from the children of the schools in the major urban centres. If there is a will and effort, having a side by side with the skilled teachers that are close to the children, then they can achieve any goal. A good, is a little!
