A new bug “threatens” thousands of systems

Still a dangerous vulnerability in computer security discovered by researchers which they warn could potentially affect hundreds of thousands of devices, applications and services.
However, as indicated by the experts, due to the nature of this vulnerability is extremely difficult to determine the severity of the problem.
“Many are the experts who are trying to reach if you are going for a disastrous situation, or if we avoid the risk,” said the british news network BBC, professor Alan Woodward of University of Surrey.
As mentioned in the article of the BBC, engineers at Google, in cooperation with Red Hat (a us company that deals with product development open source), developed a patch (corrigendum) to solve the problem, according to the Athenian Agency.
In a notice posted by ” the Google team explained the way in which the vulnerability could be used through remote access in order to affect either a computer, a router for the Internet, or some other connected device.
The flaw (bug) found in the glibc – library open source used widely in devices capable of connecting to the Internet.
“This is not a disastrous scenario,” said the researcher, Red Hat, Kenneth White. “However it is true that there is a strong likelihood that many services will probably confront the risk of a hacker to use the code to affect their systems”.
Added, also, that in spite of the fact that there is no known code attack using this vulnerability, it is “almost certain” that hackers will try to exploit this “hole”.
However, Google argues that it is very difficult to exploited this vulnerability, despite the fact that engineers managed to do it.
As reported by the BBC, it is particularly difficult to determine the scale of the problem, since it is not clear how many devices and systems use the code of glibc, while according to experts, this particular bug had been discovered in this library the 2008.
