depicted crab, the best thing to do is not to attempt to catch it. This is the crab coconut (Latro Birgus), the claws of which they are not only large but powerful. According to a study by japanese experts, the claw of this crab can exert power 336 kg!
The Latro Birgus, is a crab of the land that reaches to a length of one meter. The weight is about five pounds and can live for 60 years. Is recorded as the largest arthropod in the world and lives in some of the islands of the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. Got its name because it feeds on coconuts which dissolves easily in the terrible of the calipers. Fed also with fruit, nuts and seeds.
However, it is considered a peaceful creature that decides to use aggressively the claws only when they feel danger. It has also been observed that is attracted to shiny objects after it has been caught entering houses and grabbing a handful of silverware and other shiny objects. The study of the coconut crab made researchers of the Institution Okinawa Churasima and the findings published in the journal “PLoS ONE”.
