A 23-year-old Ukrainian winner in the international Olympiad in modern Greek Language

The 23-year-old Anne Vinick, from Kharkiv, Ukraine, is the winner of the World Olympiad of modern Greek Language was, for the first time this year, under the auspices of the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO, the Global Coordinating Committee of Pontian Youth (ΠΑΣΕΠΟΝ) and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), with the support of the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad.
The 2nd place in the contest, organized in the framework of celebration of the Anniversary Year of Aristotle, conquered the Narin Χακομπιάν from Armenia and the 3rd Valentina Ολίνικ from Ukraine.
The three winners emerged after the two phases of the contest, which lasted over three months, among dozens of contestants, who were examined on the following theme: “Year of Aristotle”, “A lady of 90 years” (refers to the Philosophical School of ARISTOTLE university of thessaloniki), “Happiness in the 21st century”, “How it affects the children, the violence of the cartoon”, “The forgotten importance of the family table”, “For all it’s in the genes?” and “Photograph, and… ευτυχείτε!”
The awards held on Saturday night, during the closing ceremony of the Olympics in the Ceremonial Hall of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) in the presence of the mayor of Thessaloniki Yiannis Boutaris, the deputy minister of Foreign affairs, Yiannis Amanatidis, president of the Panhellenic Federation of Pontian Associations (ΠΟΠΣ) Christina Σαχινίδου, the rector of the ARISTOTLE university of thessaloniki Pericles Mitkas, the president of the School of modern Greek Language of ARISTOTLE university of thessaloniki and if. professor Marina Ματθαιουδάκη, the president of the Hellenic National Commission for Unesco Ekaterini Τζιτζικώστα and many other guests.
“The contest helped me a lot in the dissemination of modern Greek language. He made known the possibility of involvement of someone in such a tender process, at a global level. Brought ideas and suggestions for recovery,” said to ana-MPA, the president of the School of modern Greek Language of ARISTOTLE university of thessaloniki, Marina Ματθαιουδάκη.
“The most important thing is that he sent a message to the world that the Greek language is learned from people who do not have Greek ancestry and their only motivation is the love for the language proficiency,” said mrs Ματθαιουδάκη, pointing to how the university can promote the proficiency and the Greek language all over the world.
