7 February: Feast of St. Parthenios, Bishop of Λαμψάκου

The memory of St. Parthenios of the Bishop Λαμψάκου honors today, 7 February, our Church…
Saint Parthenios was from a town of Bithynia, and lived during the times of the M. Constantine (324 – 337 ad.X.). He was the son of a deacon of the Church of Μελιτοπόλεως Christoforou, from which εδιδάχθηκε the orthodox faith.
The Saint from his childhood προέκοπτε in virtue and piety. The way in which the Lord caught by the apostles, who were fishermen, made him love fishing. When shooting the nets in Απολλωνιάδα lake and floated full of fish, he felt that he was working on one of the boats of the Apostle Peter, or John.
The money received from the sale of fish not kept for himself but the εμοίραζε to the poor out of love to them. This is why, when you kissed said: “Why do you thank me? I have no such claim. Are we strangers? We are brothers. What I don’t simpler and more natural than helping a brother to the brothers?”
For the virtuous of this in the presence of the Bishop Μελιτοπόλεως Philip (or Φιλητός) the εχειροτόνησε elder. Later, the Bishop of Cyzicus Αχίλλιος (or Ασχόλιος) the εχειροτόνησε Bishop Λαμψάκου.
