(Title) China should revise its policy on its commitments to reduce carbon emissions and to provide more government support programs capture and store carbon to achieve the goal of reducing global emissions by 50% in 2050, said today in Beijing, the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Nompouo Tanaka during the presentation of the new report on clean energy technologies.
A Tanaka, head service that advises on energy the member countries of the OECD made clear that any hope of achieving the goal of reducing worldwide emissions by 50% in 2050 depends directly on the decision of the Beijing 2020 to set a limit on peak emissions China.

These policies remain as Beijing officially formed shortly before the UN conference on climate in Copenhagen is a commitment to reduce 40% to 45% energy intensity – the amount of carbon dioxide carbon per unit of GDP – in 2020.
Chinese scholars have commented critically Tanaka statements, saying that the target peak emissions in 2020 – combined with an expected 36% reduction in coal consumption in 2050 – will force China to sacrifice economic development.
Also, the IEA report states that the installation of carbon capture and storage (CCS) will contribute up to 18% required reduction in emissions of Chinese, however, progress in this area is characterized so far been disappointing.

The head of the IEA said CCS technology is mature and added that “the important thing is the incentive and pricing of coal. We believe that the price for the power sector is around 50-60 dollars per tonne of carbon dioxide emissions ».
« Without technology, carbon capture and storage in China, the reduction target of 50% of global emissions in 2050 are just impossible “, concluded Nompouo Tanaka.
