110 years of Mars: The “glare” of legends in the great celebration of the Association and the jersey of Alkis Kampanos

AS organized a festive gala in the crowded theatre “Olympion” for the 110 years of history of the club completed on 25 March and Thessaloniki wore them.. her yellow and celebrates for the city team. The glorious 110-year-old story of Mars was found with difficulty in a video of about eight minutes, reflecting moments from the history of the Association. A beautiful and emotional journey through time with testimonies of the protagonists and the role of the world in the evolution of Mars. It was a heartwarming moment – which even caused everyone to applaud – when the 19th jersey was raised in the air for the murdered Alki Cabano. “Alcos alive, forever ever ever Evergreen” everyone shouted. “In the years of peace and innocence Mars starred” was the message of AS Mars President Lefteris Arvanitis. The sequel was even more intense emotionally as the biggest live athletes in the history of the club were honoured starting from football with Easter, Paul and Vassilis Spanopoulos. Stergios Gousios, Diamantoula Tsatsos from basketball followed by the Volleyballists Tasos Orologias, Sotiris Ieroklis and the part of the track of Hatzigiosis, Talichmanidou, the wet track Mrs. Katerina Kosmas and Nikos Amanidis. These special awards were completed with a special personality, Sakis Veranis who is the oldest living swimmer who even continues to offer his services on a daily basis to AS. In a moving statement, Diamantula Tsatsu stressed: “And if I were reborn, I would still play on Mars”! Members of the team that won the Greek Cup in 1970 went up to the stage by opening the cycle of honours to groups that either won trophies or went on impressive marches, with Angel Charistes making the award. “With the appearances made by the current team, he has the right to win the Cup”, said Nikos Christidis to report on the subject the current coach of Mars, Akis Mantzios. “We will claim it and bring it to Thessaloniki”. The 1996-97 Mars basketball team, which won the Korats Cup, took a series with George Sigalas doing the award. “We were very disappointed and we were pissed after the first game. The next day I saw my players determined. That’s when I started believing more,” said Lefteris Soubotic. “Mars gave me the honor to play on this team and I thank him forever”, said Panagiotis Liadelis.
