From the Security Sub-directorate of Western Attica, Attica Security division, was formed a case against five (5) persons, members of a criminal group, who committed thefts of vehicles, which are then sold counterfeit items.
In particular, police officers of the above Service was arrested on 3-3-2016 in Thrakomakedones, a 30 year old domestic who had been in possession of a stolen vehicle for which he had posted “for sale” sign. As it emerged from the ongoing investigation, the arrested person was a member of a criminal group active in selling cars that previously had been removed, and skew the data.
In addition, identified and sought for 4 nationals, aged 27, 32, 34 and 40 years of age, members of the gang.
In their weight, is formed, prosecution for the offences of setting up and participating in a criminal group, of the acceptance and disposal of proceeds of crime as well as forgery after use.
As to the mode of action, the members of the gang buy totally damaged cars, a consequence of road accidents or extensive damage whose repair was unprofitable.
Subsequently, they removed the same type and similar age movement of vehicles, for which there was strong buying interest and since you tampered with the identification use for sale through electronic advertisements.
In addition, in order to hinder the detection of counterfeiting, they made a false declaration of theft or loss of the original license plate with the result that mount new in the final bodywork and, in many cases, practising and intermediate virtual transfers.
From the investigation so far, have εξιχνιασθεί 21 car thefts.
The formed case-file was submitted to the Prosecutor of Misdemeanours of Athens, and the case was referred to a Regular Inquisitor.
