The Greek MP Zetta Makri has accused a journalist of blackmail, leading to his arrest by local authorities. According to reports from magnesianews.gr, Makri had reportedly been under pressure in recent weeks from the journalist, who allegedly demanded €10,000 in exchange for not publishing damaging stories about her in his media outlet.
Makri, a former Deputy Minister of Education, filed a formal complaint with the Volos Police Department, prompting the arrest of the journalist. During a meeting set at a café in Volos port this morning at 11:00 AM, the journalist was caught in possession of marked banknotes that had been given to him by the MP as part of the alleged extortion scheme.
The journalist is currently being held at the Volos Security Directorate and is expected to face an immediate judicial process for the crime of blackmail. Meanwhile, Makri has been summoned to provide further testimony to clarify the events leading up to the accusation against the journalist.
