Zelenskyy: The US Will Respect Our Positions on Crimea

The Ukrainian President acknowledged that the talks in London regarding the war were held in an emotionally charged atmosphere. Meanwhile, Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that diplomatic efforts will continue and bring peace to Ukraine, which is being tested by the Russian invasion. ‘The emotional tension was at its peak today. But it’s good that representatives from five countries met to bring peace closer,’ Zelenskyy wrote in a post on platform X. ‘The American side shared its vision. Ukraine and other European countries presented their views,’ he added. He committed that the Ukrainian government will always comply with the country’s Constitution and expressed confidence that Kyiv’s allies in the West, including the US, will act respecting Ukraine’s positions. This was an indirect reference to the strong criticisms of former US President Donald Trump about Zelenskyy’s statement that any recognition of Russian sovereignty over the Crimean peninsula would contradict Ukraine’s Constitution.
