Zelenskyy: Substantial Meeting with Trump – Discussed Ceasefire in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described his meeting today (25.06.2025) with U.S. President Donald Trump as ‘major and substantive’ during the NATO Summit in The Hague. In a social media post, Zelenskyy commented on the one-on-one discussion with Trump at a critical time for the war in Ukraine, amid increased Russian attacks. The Ukrainian president stated that the meeting with Trump was ‘great and substantive,’ focusing on how to achieve a ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Zelenskyy aimed to use the 50-minute session to convince Trump to invest in Ukraine’s defense efforts against Russia. ‘We covered all truly important issues. Thank you, Mr. President. Thank you, United States,’ Zelenskyy wrote on X. He added, ‘We discussed how to achieve a ceasefire and real peace. We spoke about how to protect our people.’
