In a video message released on June 3, 2026, Zelenskyy stated that Lieutenant General Mykhailo Drapaty would take command of the frontline troops. Earlier, Drapaty posted on Facebook expressing gratitude for the president’s support and encouragement to focus on key issues: “the war, the front (of battles), and victory.” He emphasized his commitment to serving on the frontline. Zelenskyy also approved the appointment of Oleh Apostol as the head of airborne troops and Robert Brovdi as the chief of unmanned systems forces. The president highlighted the ongoing Russian attacks, particularly in the Sumy region, where four people were killed and nearly 30 injured, including three children. Zelenskyy reiterated calls for Russia to cease fire and negotiate peace, thanking international supporters pushing for stricter sanctions against Russia.
