Zelensky: The “unforeseeable” Trump can determine the end of Russian invasion of Ukraine

He described him as “strong and unpredictable” and considers him a determining factor in ending the war in Ukraine. “Donald Trump may be decisive (…) in this war. He can help us stop Putin. He is very strong and unpredictable,” Volontir Zelenski said in a television interview, expressing the belief that the elected president of the US “really wishes to end the war” in Ukraine. CORVERSE Donald Trump’s return to the U.S. presidency creates in Kiev hopes of making bold decisions regarding the Russian invasion of Ukraine – almost three years after its start – but also concern about a reduction in US aid at military and economic level due to the criticisms expressed by the Republican tycoon. Volontimir Zelenski has rejected the possibility of negotiations with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on ending the war. However, he recently appeared to pour water into his wine, accepting to temporarily suspend operations to release occupied territories, in exchange for security guarantees from NATO and an increase in military aid to Kiev. Some European countries, including France, have put on the table the idea of developing foreign military power in Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement, but Zelenski makes it clear that such an initiative should not undermine his country’s NATO membership.
