In a special ceremony held today (8 July 2026) in Tripoli, Environment and Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou signed the decision to include a series of new projects under the national drinking water supply and water management programme in the Peloponnese Region.

Focus on Sustainable Water Infrastructure

The event marks the formal adoption of the ‘Drinking Water Supply and Water Management Interventions’ programme — part of the Ministry’s Sectoral Development Programme under the ‘Drinking Water Supply and Water Management’ axis. The newly approved initiatives target municipalities across the Peloponnese, aiming to strengthen local water infrastructure and improve access to safe drinking water.

Broader National Rollout

This follows last week’s announcement, when Minister Papastavrou signed a similar decision integrating several new municipalities into the same national water programme — from Pella and Oreokastro to Langadas in Thessaloniki and the Chalkidiki region. Those projects carry a total budget of €10 million and build on earlier phases, including the inclusion of 16 projects worth €16.6 million across nine municipalities in Thessaly, Central Greece, and Eastern Macedonia, as well as 10 projects worth €15 million across nine island municipalities.
