A delightful surprise awaited a young student who, along with her parents, took a stroll on the Molivotos beach in Komotini when she suddenly found a piece of an ancient artifact. According to xronos.gr, little Evangelia went out with her parents for a springtime walk on the beach of Komotini. Suddenly, the young girl’s attention was drawn to an object buried in the sand. As they carefully dug it out, Evangelia and her parents were astonished to discover that it was the top part of an amphora. The following day, the archaeological find was handed over for evaluation and preservation at the Komotini Archaeological Museum, where it was received by archaeologist Stefanos Tsolakis. The amphora emerged in the ancient region of Strymon, an area rich in archaeological interest and history, yet one that has not been fully excavated or highlighted in recent decades, according to the same report. The site has largely been left to fate and has become a target for antiquity smugglers.
