Startling scenes unfolded at noon on Saturday, July 4, 2026, on the Kifissos Highway in Athens, when a young man rode an electric scooter along the national road — putting both his own life and the safety of high-speed drivers at serious risk.
The scooter was spotted traveling in the left lane of the Kifissos Highway near Rentis, heading toward Piraeus. The extraordinary incident was captured by MEGA’s traffic camera, leaving viewers stunned by the footage.
As passing vehicles honked repeatedly to warn him, the young man opted to climb onto the curb beside protective barriers — realizing, albeit belatedly, that continuing safely was no longer possible. Yet he remained stranded there for some time, unable to cross the three-lane roadway alone without endangering himself.
According to the MEGA video, he then called for help on his mobile phone. Shortly afterward, a Hellenic Police patrol vehicle arrived at the scene. An officer temporarily halted traffic to safely escort the young man off the roadway.
