Yoga Teacher Detonated Friends’ and Relatives’ Cars in Athens Suburbs

A 56-year-old yoga instructor carried out three car bombings across Attica—New Erythrea, Metamorfosi, and Kifissia—within 12 days, seeking revenge against friends and relatives who refused her financial demands. Using homemade explosive devices made with lighter fluid, gasoline, and wicks, she targeted vehicles belonging to close acquaintances. The latest attack occurred on Thursday, 29.01.2026, outside a friend’s home in Kifissia, completely destroying the car and severely burning its owner, who was rushed to Genimatas Hospital. Neighbors reported hearing small blasts and witnessing the fire. Police from Kifissia Security Directorate identified and arrested the suspect using surveillance footage and witness statements. She had prior criminal history: ten years earlier, she burned her father’s car.
