Yanis Varoufakis Tells Journalist: ‘You Are Hilarious’

Representing Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Kostas Karamanlis, among others, the leader of MERA25, Yanis Varoufakis, referred to a journalist as ‘hilarious’ during a discussion at the Regional Growth Conference. Sophia Toutoury, a journalist and strategic communications advisor, engaged in a lengthy conversation with the head of MERA25, Yanis Varoufakis, during the conference. Shortly afterward, a doctored video from MERA25 began circulating, showing the journalist allegedly attacking the former finance minister. Varoufakis also labeled her as ‘government propaganda.’ When asked for evidence, he suggested she had been exposed. Upon Toutoury’s observation that she has many supporters of Mr. Varoufakis against her, he responded, ‘Of course, you are hilarious, absolutely laughable.’ The full video starts from 09:26 onward.
