China’s President Xi Jinping invited his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, to visit China during a phone conversation on June 5, 2025. The discussion highlighted consensus between the two nations in diplomatic, economic, trade, and military realms. Xi emphasized increased cooperation and understanding with the U.S., urging fewer misunderstandings between the economic giants. He noted that after Geneva talks, China has seriously implemented agreements. Both sides were encouraged to use established consultation mechanisms for trade and economic issues while maintaining mutual respect. Regarding Taiwan, Xi requested careful handling by the U.S., warning against allowing separatists to lead to dangerous conflict. Trump accepted the invitation for an upcoming visit alongside First Lady Melania Trump. In a Truth Social post, Trump mentioned that both negotiation teams would soon meet, focusing primarily on trade. The leaders discussed almost exclusively trade matters without touching on Russia/Ukraine or Iran.
