Worker Falls at Herodeion, Hospitalized with Multiple Fractures

A workplace accident occurred at the Herodeion. A worker fell from a height and was rushed to the Gennimatas General State Hospital in Athens with multiple fractures. According to a letter by Kostas Kechagioglou, President of the Panhellenic Federation of Spectacle and Event Organizations, the incident happened on Thursday afternoon (May 8, 2025) while the worker was on a ladder during preparations for summer events by the Athens Festival. The injured worker required immediate transfer to the hospital, where recovery is expected to take time. Rescue teams from the Acropolis quickly arrived at the scene. Attempts to contact the Athens Festival for more details about the accident were unsuccessful. Concerns have been raised regarding whether the incident has been officially reported as a workplace accident and if all safety measures were followed. The federation emphasized that safety rules in spectacle and event spaces have deteriorated, leading to an increasing number of accidents. They called for immediate action, including inspections by labor authorities and stricter enforcement of safety protocols to protect workers’ health and safety ahead of the busy summer season.
