Work stops in Metro and ISAP

A work stop from 21:00 until the end of the shift will be carried out on Wednesday by electric drivers on metro and ISAP (lines 1, 2, 3), while bus services will normally run.

E-drivers complain that they are forced to operate trains on which the air conditioner is out of service in the drivers’ cabins, while in order to get out the program they have to work on their day off without days of rest.

In a statement, they point out that instead of the stasy administration dealing with the existing problems “it has taken another step of “rewarding” the Electric Drivers, implementing programs painfully with even more routes per person that in order to be implemented colleagues must necessarily work on days off”.

“It was very difficult for managers to wait two months for the planning to be completed in September, including new colleagues who were late recruited and still trained,” they note.

The workers complain that despite requests from last April concerning the maintenance of air conditioners ahead of the summer of the 40-year-old aged trains of the ISAP Line, “STASY has not been able to coordinate the relatively simple work (e.g. filter cleaning) and thus trains are being launched which are essentially reminiscent of blast furnaces, and workers are called upon to handle them by endangering their health“.

Normally the bus services will take place.

As stated, the president of the WORKERS’ Union OF OASA K. Siorikis the decision was taken since the drivers’ schedule no longer raises the issue with intermittent shifts.

It is recalled that the employees had announced from last week work stoppages, until Friday 9 July, if the ESY continued to implement the Winter Programme.
