Wolt has launched a new digital platform for information and training in collaboration with the Panos Mylonas Road Safety Institute (IOAS), under the auspices of Greece’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and with support from the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). The initiative—titled Moving the City, Responsibly—aims to strengthen a culture of responsible urban mobility and coexistence.

Research-Informed Approach

The project began with an extensive study conducted by IOAS, engaging delivery workers, partner businesses, and citizens to better understand the challenges affecting daily mobility and road safety in Greek cities. A key finding was that road safety is not solely a matter of individual behavior—but the result of the entire urban operational chain, from delivery riders to drivers and pedestrians.

At the same time, the research revealed a strong existing safety culture among delivery workers: 98% reported always wearing helmets—a sign of widespread awareness and discipline, and a foundation upon which targeted interventions can build further good practices.

A Three-Pillar Initiative

Based on these insights, the initiative is structured around three core pillars: research, training and awareness, and public engagement.

At its heart lies the Digital Information and Training Platform, designed as a central hub for the entire delivery ecosystem—and open to the general public. For Wolt’s delivery partners, the platform hosts a comprehensive six-module training program, including instructional videos. This material will be integrated into onboarding for new partners and serve as ongoing reference and refresher training for existing ones.

The microsite is also publicly accessible, offering practical tips and guidance for safer urban mobility—and featuring incentives and rewards to encourage participation.

Broadening the Impact

In parallel, specialized educational seminars will be delivered in partnership with IOAS for Wolt’s restaurant partners, team leads, and representatives of delivery worker associations—aiming to scale best practices and reinforce a prevention-first safety culture across the sector.

Recognizing the importance of early education, the initiative extends to schools. In cooperation with IOAS, road safety education programs will be implemented in over 12 schools across the region. Through experiential learning and tailored educational materials, approximately 600 students will gain familiarity with core principles of safe movement and responsible road behavior.
