Wolf Pack Spotted Near Herakleia Village in Lamia

A wolf pack has caused widespread alarm in the local community of Herakleia near Lamia, following two separate sightings within just three days. According to ilamia.gr, a resident working in his field on the village’s outskirts early Friday morning (30/1/2026) spotted approximately 12 wolves at a distance. Concern intensified when, on Saturday (31/1/2026), locals discovered a dead wolf near a business at the community’s entrance—likely struck by a vehicle earlier that morning. In response, Herakleia’s Community Council President, Ilias Mavradas, urgently contacted all relevant authorities and the Forestry Service, as residents fear wolves are now approaching inhabited areas. This incident follows another recent wolf sighting near Loutra Ypatis—also within a densely populated zone and within the same three-day window.
