Wildfire in Sitia, Chamezi Area – Aerial Means Deployed

A large wildfire is currently ongoing in the Chamezi area of Sitia, prompting a significant response from firefighting units and local authorities. According to reports from cretapost, the fire broke out just after 4 PM on Sunday (06/07/2025) and quickly grew in scale. At the scene, six vehicles with 25 firefighters and six ground teams have been deployed, while additional forces from local municipalities remain on standby. Two helicopters have also been mobilized and are conducting water drops to help contain the blaze. The fire is not currently threatening residential areas and is mainly affecting grassland.
