Wildfire in Messinia at Neochari Area – 7 Planes and 3 Helicopters Deployed

A wildfire broke out just after 5:30 PM on Friday (04.07.2025) in the village of Neochari, Messinia. A total of 7 aircraft and 3 helicopters have been deployed for aerial water drops to contain the flames. In addition, 45 firefighters with 14 vehicles and 2 ground teams from the 9th EMODe (Emergency Response Unit) are actively engaged in extinguishing efforts. Local OTAs are also providing support through water tankers. The fire is currently burning through agricultural fields and green areas in the Neochari region of Messinia. According to the Fire Department, no homes in the settlement are under threat at this time.
