Wildfire in Kythira – Emergency Alert 112 Activated

A wildfire broke out on Wednesday afternoon (02/07/2025) in a forested area of Kythira. The emergency number 112 was activated, warning citizens to stay away from Melidoni Beach. Firefighting operations are currently underway with the involvement of 19 firefighters, a team of ground crews, volunteers, 6 fire trucks, 3 aircraft, and 3 helicopters. The 112 alert urged people at Melidoni Beach to move towards the Drymonas area for safety.
