Wildfire in Koropi – Flames Reach Residential Yards, Residents Urged to Evacuate

A wildfire broke out in the low vegetation of the Agios Dimitrios area in Koropi, Attica, on Friday afternoon (4.7.25). An emergency alert was sent via the 112 system urging residents to evacuate towards Lagonissi. To combat the fire, 75 firefighters were mobilized, including five teams of ground crews from the 1st EMOODE unit, supported by 25 vehicles and volunteers. Two planes and four helicopters are conducting aerial water drops, while water tankers from local municipalities are also assisting in the firefighting efforts. According to Koropi Mayor Dimitris Kioutsis, flames have reached the yards of homes in the area. The 112 message warns: ‘Fire in the Agios Dimitrios area of Koropi, Attica. If you are in Agios Dimitrios, Galazio Akti, or Althea, move towards Lagonissi. Follow the instructions of the authorities.’ The blaze started north of the settlement, prompting a large-scale response.
