A wildfire broke out on Friday afternoon (04/07/2025) in the area of Mesochoria, Evia, prompting an immediate response from firefighting forces. According to the fire department, the blaze started in a forested area and is being fueled by strong winds in the region, complicating suppression efforts. Significant firefighting resources have rushed to the scene, including 54 firefighters, 16 vehicles, 3 ground teams, 14 aircraft, and 4 helicopters dispatched from Aliveri, Karystos, and Chalkida. At this time, the fire does not threaten any residential areas.
